Jacob Ward

Written as a satirical response to the “Hommage á R. Strauss” by Béla Kovács (1937 – 2021), a Hungarian clarinetist and composer. A solo piece for bass clarinet, this work references several motifs contained in the original hommage, and builds upon the jazz-influenced style associated with 20th century western classical music. A versatile work, this interprets several ideas of chromaticism, romanticism, and late tonality.
