City Girl Sentimentalism is a faux editorial named after City Girl Sentimentalism, a composition for wind and percussion octet by Shuhei Tamura. The series uses lighting, styling, and pose to construct an emotional narrative, following a Los Angeles–based subject during a period when she was living in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Positioned between environments, she becomes a figure navigating distance, memory, and the pull of a familiar urban past. City lights and fragments of metropolitan space are digitally embedded into the images, collapsing geography into a visual expression of longing.
